Body Basics at American Apparel

January 26, 2013

Last week I went into an American Apparel shop for the first time in months. I have always loved their laid back sporty luxe look, but recently I look to them, and them only, for basic and fundamental garments, like leotard tops, yoga or pilates leggings, comfy knitwear and of course the basic T –shirt. Unlike many shops these days, they replicate your favourite style in loads of different colours. Here are some of my favourite basics.

Cotton Spandex Jersey Short Sleeve T-Shirt Leotard

 Unisex California Fleece Raglan

Basic garments can survive for years and withstand any change in the fashion forecast thanks to their timeless design and style. Such versatility in clothing, like the basic white tee, means you would have bought an investment piece that will always be wearable throughout any point in the year. I love how American Apparel caters for the layered affect as well as for the statement piece. Such as the bodysuit that can be worn with skirts/shorts or layered under knit cardigans and jumpers.

You may not know that they have Vintage section as well, with everything from the varsity jacket to vintage head scarves. What more could you want from a brand offering modern and fashion forward basics to the vintage classics we all love?

California Select Original Plaid Cropped Tie Top

American Apparel takes great pride in their sustainable company ethics, where they recycle manufacturing waste and are ‘virtually landfill free’. Their Vertical Integration method of manufacture means their company’s carbon footprint is shrunk, ‘as the materials are not shipped back and forth internationally, across thousands of miles, in the production process ’.

What do you think of shopping or shopping online at American Apparel; apart from their quite costly price tags would you be willing to invest in their clothing? Take a look at some American Apparel Offers  on Groupon.

American Apparel is where I always go to get the most comfy soft cotton basics! The belly t shirts are the best! You are so right about their timeless style! Whoever is at the helm now really knows their stuff!
