Vionnet

Vionnet Sping/Summer 2013

Well spring is finally on the way and so out come our spring wardrobes! Mine is looking very depleted though, the rain but mixed with the slightly warmer weather really makes choosing the correct combinations a challenge doesn’t it? What I really like about this look from Vionnet is the fluidity of the shapes, the fabrics look fine and cool enough to stop you from over heating but the jacket and long trousers keep away winter’s remnants. Mango is my go to brand for this S/S – you have been warned!

Nina Ricci

Nina Ricci

I don’t care what people say, it is still winter where I live, so I will keep going with my A/W deconstructions up until March. Despite the cold weather this look is bared legged but the over sized coat and fur collar counteracts this completely! I love how elegant this look is and in fact the whole of the Nina Ricci collection, so you should definitely take a look at it for more inspiration. I think a silk wrap dress would have been perfect for this look, but unfortunately I could not find one, let me know if you know if you can!

Max Mara

January 16, 2013

I think we can all agree that Max Mara is the go to brand for a new coat, each season there’s a new wollen wonder. I think khaki green is such a lovely colour and completely overlooked, it suits all colourings! This collection was all about the military look, with big lapels and a casual loose fit for comfort while still remaining elegant and feminine.

Lanvin

January 3, 2013

It was such an elaborate show by Elbaz, with a huge variety of colours, fabrics and textures! I loved the brocade and darkness to this look and the jewels and beading add such decadence. I chose a Topshop dress to wear under the black peplum skirt, and then the belt can be layered over the top. Everything about this look is over the top, but it seems to work I think, do you agree?

Kenzo

December 20, 2012

I am sure you have all seen and wanted those pop inspired Kenzo jumpers that have been at the forefront of fashion circles recently, but for this look I chose something a little more classic from their collection. Palazzos are the perfect day to evening trousers, make sure you wear them high waisted with heels! As some of the other looks in the collection demonstrated, these trousers work with a delicate shirt for night and a chunky knit, shown here, for day time. I love the cobalt blue as well!

Jill Stuart

December 9, 2012

I love the simplistic style here! I don’t think I have featured Jill Stuart before so it is nice to look at different designers who do that simple elegance so well! Nothing is overly embellished or accessorized in this look, so that is just how I would wear it with the options above. The ankle strap looks fine with this look as well because of the trousers falling round the ankle!

Isabel Marant

November 25, 2012

Such a relaxed and simple collection by Marant and I love the use of red throughout. Though the coat was the winner for me – the over sized cavalry look is so perfect for winter. It would be great in navy blue as well. Flats or heels this makes a lovely day time look.

Helmut Lang

November 15, 2012

I loved this look by Helmut Lang, so powerful, with a ‘ I’m a strong and independent woman’  feel to it. Note the lapel less blazer – such a clever idea, by taking it away from the classic man suit there is still a sleek shape and form. The leather top is the key piece to this look, a real leather top is of course the better option but extremely expensive and hard to find. Over the knee high boots are a great show piece, with or without a heel!

Gucci

November 3, 2012

I just loved this Gucci collection for A/W. It has a Gothic romance feel to it that really creates a powerful and strong look. Maybe it is just the leather though! Note the burgundy blouse and the matching lipstick. Leather trousers are a difficult thing to buy, too cheap and they definitely look way too fake that it is embarrassing, but then the real deal is way too expensive. I would settle for £100 for a good pair of leather trousers. I hope you like this look!

Fendi

October 23, 2012

Such a cool futuristic look by Fendi and with an unusual hairstyle. I love the idea of cuddling up in a big winter coat with a shift dress and tights underneath, it just seems so cosy and stylish at the same time. While the Zara coat I chose isn’t very futuristic it will certainly keep you warm! I had never considered red boots before either – the Topshop ones are nice I think, because they are not too bright. What is more, I may have found another bag option! Don’t you just love this tote by Accessorize?
