It’s a bit late, but finally here is October’s Nothing New, Only Borrowed Project 2: Velvet. I teamed up with my friend and fashion photographer Ryan Blackwell for this shoot. (1,2 and 3 Velvet top; Motel, Trousers; Zara, 4 and 5. Lace and Velvet Top; M&s, Mom Jeans; Stradivarius, 6. Velvet Dress; Motel, Jacket; Ryan’s own, 7 and 8. Velvet Top; Zara, Black dress; Topshop – Accessories and shoes my own)

Saw this editorial and knew I had to share it on my blog! Firstly the dresses are just stunning and the delicate placement of the flowers in the models’ hair is so romantic, but what I love most is the construction of the shot with each model doing something different or looking in a different direction. There is equally something quite gothic about the scenario depicted, especially given that it is of a wedding scene!

I’m sorry for the lack of posts these last few weeks, been very busy working for exams and planning a new look and post ideas for the blog! So in the next few months Fashionable People should be revamped. In the meantime I am still day dreaming for Summer – what do you think of this photograph by Norman Parkinson of Barbara Mullen for British Vogue 1956?
Fell in love with these – what do you think? Wish summer would hurry up!

I discovered Paul de Luna photography through Fashion156, such a great site for discovering editorials and new artists! I just love how he captures the fluidity of fabrics in his shots and the soft romantic feel to them. I chose the most Christmasy ones to show you all, well apart from the ones by the sea!

I cannot believe that I only just discovered Mert and Marcus photography, who feature in the September issue of Vogue Paris with their four part photo spread entitled ‘Le Noir’. The images are so captivating, the fabric textures jump out at you as if they are touchable and the dark foreboding setting entices you. I don’t usually feature Kate Moss on my blog, but both models are so exceptional that I had to do a post! I hope you like them as much as I do. I still cannot believe M&M do shoots for Love Magazine and I never realised!

I’m not sure how I came across Volt Cafe a – ‘Art as Fashion, Fashion as Art’ website and magazine house. I found it listed with many other websites that seem to accumulate on my favourites bar, so I thought I would take a look for some inspiration. I found this editorial titled ‘DANCE WITH ME’ – which I think, judging by the photos is not literal dancing! I like the lack of ‘perfection’ here that you would not find in a glossy magazine – there is an originality and edge to the photos that is very intriguing. Each photo is shot differently, while the colours ensure that they all correspond to create the collection. If you look close enough you will see where the clothes are from. Enjoy and let me know your thoughts!

I thought this post was perfect for today. With the Olympics starting why not take a look at fashion’s twist on the games? These shots for Vogue UK are such beautiful pastels and I love the delicate and almost romantic feel to the whole editorial by fashion director Charlotte Pilcher and photographed by Tim Gutt. All the clothes are just stunning, if only you could play archery in heels!

I could not believe my eyes when I saw these photos created by fashion and costume designer (now photographer) Kirsty Mitchell. They have the same mystical quality to them as Tim Walker’s photography which I love so much, where you are transported literally to another world! The make-up, set design and clothing was all done by Mitchell and her team, with very little retouching, as can be shown through her documentation of creating the collection. I urge you to have a look at the complete collection Here , and find out a bit more about Mitchell herself and the making of such extraordinary photos!

As I blogged about recently, I was kindly given some Italian Vogues, and when I saw these photographs in their Haute Couture magazine I was mesmerized! Astrid Berges-Frisbey first caught my attention in the latest Pirates and the Caribbean film. Her look is so ethereal and romantic, that I wasn’t surprised that she is a model and a working actress. Even though I tried and failed to understand the gist of the article, I thought I would share the pictures from the magazine, photographed by Ellen Von Unwerth. Where do I begin to describe how much I love the colours, textures, lighting, make-up and clothes! Let me know which are your favourites.
